G'day, we are a small kennel situated at Macarthur, half way between Hamilton and Pt Fairy on the south west coast of Victoria, Australia, approximately 4 hours from Melbourne. We were lucky to get our first girl Sally way back in 1977, for our firstborn daughter Tarryn. She was the most wonderful placid of labs and was also a fabulous retriever. She was the foundation of our kennels along with her 'aunt' Bella, who is behind all our current stock. Sally and Bella were grandaughters of FT & RT CH Pantherdell Cougar.
Our 4 children - Tarryn, Simon, Kate and Nick have grown up with their best mates and companions and although it has been sad losing our best friends along the way, we have had many years of wonderful enjoyment from this fabulous breed.
We have always concentrated on breeding labs with the most wonderful of temperaments, brains and the ability to do a days work, while keeping to the breed standard.
Our dogs were fortunate that we lived on 40 acres in the middle of 100's of acres of grazing land and so had lots of exercise, usually a dam full of water and lots of love. Due to Greg's ill health we have sold our lovely property and downsized to 1/2 acre on the outskirts of Macarthur which has been a culture shock for us all! Although the dogs now love their walks around town and are quite "feral" I'm ashamed to say, with no manners as they have rarely been on the end of a lead unless at a show. They absolutely love all the new smells and sights, but not keen on big B double trucks (not that I can blame them on that). They still get to go to our local rec reserve for a run and to Simon and Kate's to stretch their legs also, as they are used to free running in large paddocks. We only have 5 labs at home so I can give them quality time which is so important.
We generally only have 1 - 2 litters a year, sometimes 3 and generally have a waiting list . Most of our puppy buyers are from word of mouth or repeat buyers. Our puppies are reared in a home environment and enjoy visits from our grandchilden and anyone else who drops in. Our puppies see and hear everything so they are well accoustomed to lots of noise and the goings on of family life. Socialising puppies is extremely important to their growth and well being as puppies who are not socialised adequately can be shy and not easy to train.
We do not breed for a specific colour, although we have more blacks than yellows and very occasionally chocolate, depending on the bloodline we have used.
We guarantee all our puppies for temperament and the ability to lead a normal life and offer a free replacement/money back guarantee - see the breeding ethics page.
Linda, Greg and Kate and now our adorable models - Chelsea, Josh and Riley, our future 2 legged stars and Olivia our oldest grand daughter.
